For those who would like to keep up with how we are doing, we have a twitter account. I vow, craziness of the moment notwithstanding, to twitter our progress as the rabbit is being born. You can sign up for twitter for free, if you want updates on your phone or certain Instant Messenger clients, or you can simply read our twitters here.
Congratulations! You have made it down the rabbit hole! If you don't know what that means, then visit www.mzrfzr.com for an explanation. Anyway, want to know why you've travelled down the rabbit hole? S U R P R I S E !
Well, we have decided to go ahead with IVF one more time. The doctor said we can start the process and if I don't respond well we can stop before retrieval and save money. I have been doing a lot of research about IVF protocols and it is so complicated. From what I have read, I was on a pretty aggressive protocol. But, some women still respond better on a different protocol. So, I guess we will do this again with slightly different meds and a different schedule.
Monday was our appt to discuss the failed IVF cycle. I am so glad James could go with me. I learned some information I was not aware of. They only retreived 2 mature eggs, not 3. They did the ICSI (intra cytoplasmic sperm injection) on the "better looking" of the 2 immature egg in hopes of fertilization. The other 2 eggs were in the "other" category, meaning they must have been slightly degraded already. Two weeks of injections for TWO mature eggs??? I could have done THAT on my own!
Well, the nurse called today at noon to let us know how many of our eggs fertilized and how many embryos we had growing.
We were devastated to learn that NONE of our eggs fertilized. They recovered 6 eggs yesterday and turns out only 3 were mature. They performed ICSI on the mature ones (where a single sperm is injected into a single egg) and it didn't work.
IT DIDN'T WORK! UGGGHHHH!!!!
Well, things went really well today! They got 6 eggs and the doctor said they all looked really good! Now, we just have to wait until the nurse calls us tomorrow to let us know how many embryos we have developing.
We got there at 7:30 and I was getting dismissed by 9:30! The nurse got my IV in one stick. I didn't wake up nauseated. And I have already had a full meal. I just feel a little funny still from the anesthesia. I have also had pain medicine that is making me feel funny.
SOOOOO....
Thanks for checking out my blog! This will start out with my infertility struggles and hopefully turn into a pregnancy journal once our IVF works!
